Throughout my time at James Madison University, I have become an experienced editor. In my professional editing and copy editing classes, I learned about AP Style rules, grammar nuances, and document design strategies. In addition to projects inside the classroom, for my Advanced Professional Editing class, I redesigned the volunteer handbook for local nonprofit Gift & Thrift. My copy editor position at the student newspaper required me to edit over 20 articles per week, giving me extensive practice in editing and working in a newsroom.
